Devin Beckwith

Devin Beckwith is Ensemble VC's Defense Investment Specialist, bringing two decades of special operations, technology, and defense-acquisition experience to bear on how Ensemble evaluates and supports investments spanning defense and emerging technology. He is Co-Founder of Adaptive Airborne Enterprise (A2E) and serves as USSOCOM (United States Special Operations Command) Technology Liaison, connecting operators, engineers, and private capital to accelerate technology adoption across Special Operations Forces.

Devin flew fixed-wing special operations aircraft for over a decade — 3,246 hours, 1,140 in combat — before a 2017 assignment handed him an unmanned-systems problem that set him on a lasting path integrating new technology into the special operations enterprise. As Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Requirements Branch Chief at AFSOC (Air Force Special Operations Command), he shaped how the command evaluated and procured unmanned systems, using the SBIR program to seed emerging technologies while managing a third of AFSOC's SBIR portfolio and over $100M in funding. That work grew into A2E, which he took from a whiteboard concept to AFSOC's top acquisition priority in roughly three years.

As USSOCOM Technology Liaison, Devin acts as a translation layer between industry and the SOCOM enterprise, closing the gap where strong technology and real operational need often sit unconnected for years — usually for lack of someone who can hold strategic guidance and fight-tonight urgency at once and broker a coalition around them. That network and fluency in how the Department of Defense actually adopts new technology now underpin his work sourcing and evaluating defense-tech opportunities for Ensemble.

Devin is also writing a book (2027) on navigating the organizational seams where good ideas get stuck.
