Greetings from Ensemble VC's Summer 2025 Onsite!

We’re writing from a packed house here at Ensemble’s Summer 2025 onsite — our largest ever. Since the start of the year, we’ve added several incredible new team members, and it’s been a powerful reminder of just how far we’ve come.
At Ensemble, we like to believe we know a thing or two about what makes great teams tick — and that shows up in the caliber of work, collaboration, and drive across the org. Every new addition has been a reflection of both individual excellence and something bigger: a growing conviction in our mission, and in the idea that data-driven investing is already changing the game.
This week is about deepening that edge. We’re setting the course forthe months ahead, refining internal processes, and continuing to build the platform that makes everything possible. More soon — but for now, just wanted to say hello from Austin.

What We've Been Up To
After a full day of internal strategy and product planning on Monday, we kicked off Tuesday with a field trip to one of our conveniently located portfolio companies: ICON. We got an up-close look at the new Phoenix printer—their most advanced system yet—and then walked across the street to House of Phoenix, one of the earliest proof-point structures printed by Phoenix. The house stands 27 feet tall and stretches over 100 feet long, with sweeping conical walls that show off the printer’s ability to build with total geometric freedom.

From there, we made our way to a local favorite: LORO, the Asian smokehouse fusion and brainchild of Aaron Franklin (yes, that Aaron Franklin). It was the perfect way to show off Austin’s unique restaurant scene to the out-of-towners—great food, great company, and a well-earned break.

Naturally, no Ensemble onsite is complete without some friendly competition.
After another full day of cross-functional collaboration in the office, we wrapped up Wednesday with a few rounds of pickleball, though a devoted contingent broke off for a serious Bananagrams battle instead.

Looking back to our founding, we knew we were on the right track — but to see such an incredible team grow into its own over the years (we had to pull more chairs into the conference room!) is something else entirely.
These onsite weeks play a huge role in shaping our cadence, planning, and long-term execution. We’ll be sharing some of the insights as we debrief in the weeks ahead — but for now, we’re just soaking in the momentum. The energy here is real, and it’s only growing.

Dear VC Partner: Your Firm is Falling Critically Behind. And It's Probably Because of You
In this article, Dr. Gopinath Sundaramurthy argues that while venture capital firms are aggressively funding AI platforms, most have failed to adopt AI meaningfully within their own organizations. Drawing on Ensemble VC’s decade of experience building an AI-native investment platform, the paper explains why superficial AI usage—tools, pilots, and isolated workflows—does not translate into durable competitive advantage.
